Incoming Visitor Rotation Request Process

  • Visiting residents, fellows, medical graduates, or WashU post-doc/researchers will make contact with program leadership for rotation requests. Programs are not obligated to accept rotators, outside of pre-negotiated PLA rotations.
    • WashU Post-Doc/Researchers will be treated as incoming visitors.
    • If applicable, the participating program should confirm that the visitor’s sponsoring institution GME office is aware and supportive of this requested rotation.
  • Participating program collects all required supporting documents & submits them within the GME application.
  • GME reviews applications, requests additional information as needed.
  • After reviewing, GME will send a conditional approval email with required next steps for the visitor, the pro
    • If the requested rotation is hands-on, GME will create and execute any necessary agreement documents.
    • If the requested rotation is an observership, final approval is provided through Visiting Learners’ use of the MyClinicalExchange Portal to complete all required next steps. Any questions regarding MyClinicalExchange should be directed to Visiting Learners.

Outgoing Elective Rotation Request Process

  • Consortium residents, fellows, and NST trainees wishing to complete an elective rotation must contact their program leadership to determine feasibility of request.
  • Program determines feasibility
  • For domestic electives, the WashU training program needs to verify with the hosting institution/location about any necessary paperwork, as it must be included in the rotation application for review by WashU GME.
    • Examples: hosting institution application; visiting trainee packet; PLAs/Affiliation Agreements
  • Program leadership collects all required supporting documents & submits them within the GME application form.
  • GME reviews application, requests additional information as needed
  • If approved, GME coordinates with host institution on agreement documents and will email the trainee and program leadership final approval.
